The Aquaduct is a concept vehicle made by IDEO, and its main function is to purify water as you pedal.

It is an interesting 2-in-1 combination that transforms your normal effort - pedaling a bike - in free good water, which means you can save money and natural resources. Or if we’re talking about undeveloped countries, the advantages are more than obvious.

The creation and construction of the Aquaduct concept only took 3 weeks, and it won the contest Innovate or Die. Oddly enough, only 5 engineers + designers were needed to create the good looking bike.

As the rider pedals, a pump attached to the pedal crank draws water from a large holding tank, through a filter, to a smaller, clean tank. A clutch engages and disengages the drive belt from the pedal crank, enabling the rider to filter the water while traveling or while stationary./blockquote>

So far the Aquaduct is only a demo concept, but maybe we’ll get to see a real version in the near future.
