Luminous Power Technologies is going to launch an electric scooter called “Lectrix” sometime next month. The company wants to sell no less than 23,000 units in a year. That’s quite a number.

The company says the scooter is done, has been tested and it’s going to be available starting this November. The Lectrix will cost from Rs 22,000 or $460 to Rs 35,000 or $740. Is it me or this scooter is really cheap, even for the Indian market.

The scooter will be sold primarily in India for now, but I’m sure it’s going to be picked up by other markets too. But we’d need some decent specs and pictures to see if this scooter is ever going to become a worldwide hit. Oh and the Lectrix is not the Honda in the picture above…
