At the University of Salford located in Manchester, the folks of School of Art & Design achieved a great momentum by improving the performance of electric scooters.

The 2-wheel vehicles were imported from Asia, and due to the changes made by Damian Vesey (on the image) and others, the weight of the scooter got lighter, some design parts changed, and in the end it resulted in a more effecient scooter that can even go faster than the original maximum speed.

In terms of price and performance, with 8 pence you can ride 40 miles (64Km).

The scooters, due to go on sale at £999 each in the first quarter of 2009, look like classic 1960s scooters but are more powerful.
