One of the biggest scooter manufacturers in Taiwan, also known as KYMCO, has announced their decision to enter the market of electric bicycles.

Their first vehicle on the world of e-bikes is named SunnyBoy, it was presented during the current month of December and will become available for purchase on February 2009 for the Taiwanese market. Other markets, like Europe and the rest of the world will have to wait until 2010.

Reasons to enter the electric bikes market?

- economic drop in Taiwan (scooter sales dropped 10% in 2008)
- e-bikes are cheaper, therefore easier to sell
