Eneloop is the name of the new electric bike made by Sanyo, which will be released next year during February 2009.

The big advantage of the eneloop against other bikes of the same type, is the ability to charge the battery while it is being used, which means that owners won’t need to make many recharging sessions via the traditional way with a dedicated charger. Basically, the electricity needed is generated due to braking and going on a downhill.

Interestingly, this is the first Sony bike adapted to the new Japanese traffic laws.

By combining technologies for the power regenerating system, a motor and a secondary battery, we intend todevelop an electric hybrid bicycle that can effectively use energy with the aim of contributing to resolving environmental and energy problems.

Each Sanyo eneloop will cost close to $1,400.
