Vespa Sidecar

Vespa Sidecar

A side car on a Vespa? Is that even possible? Yes, not only can you put a sidecar on a scooter; scooter enthusiasts out there in the real world are doing it. If you want proof, or if you’d just like to see how to accomplish such a feat, one enterprising Iowa State University student has set up online instructions for anyone who needs them. Step by step instructions (with photos showing each separate operation) are given that show how to prepare the  scooter and the bracket, how to modify the bracket if you need to do that, how to attach the sidecar, how to adjust the lean, and how to attach a light to the side car.

If you think your Vespa gets a lot of attention now, wait until you go touring around town on your scooter with a new sidecar attached and your friend of fiance in it beside you. The site also provides a number of links to online retailers and various dealers that sell sidecars. A brand new Vespa Cozy Sidecar retails for right around $1800. Installation intructions are posted at www.public.iastate.edu/~gbh/VespaSidecar/
