A2B Electric Bike

One of the hottest features at this year’s January Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Nevada was the new “Greener Gadgets Tech Zone” in the central hall, meant to showcase new environmentally friendly consumer electronics. ELV Motors, Inc., a manufacturer of electric scooters and electric bicycles, was a dominant presence in the Greener Gadget zone.

Although in the past CES has not been a traditional venue for scooter manufacturers (the annual show focuses instead on home theater, audio, cell phone technology and the like), this year companies like ELV and others are pushing the envelope promotionally, hoping to take advantage of strong consumer dissatisfaction with cars and increasing environmental concerns. ELV is pushing electric scooters and bikes as fleet vehicles for police departments, EMT technicians, indoor and outdoor security, and resorts. An electric bike or scooter can typically travel up to 40 miles on a 5 to 10 cent charge.
