Scooters: Everything You Need to Know

Scooters: Everything You Need to Know

If you’ve had it with high gasoline prices, are worried about the environment, or are thinking about purchasing your first scooter for any number of good reasons, Eric Dregni & Peter Martin’s book Scooters: Everything You Need to Know might not tell you everything (even though the title promises that), but it will get you started so that you don’t wander into a dealership with a “take advantage of me” sign invisibly taped to your forehead. Buying a scooter can involve a $700 or $7,000 investment, depending on what you want the scooter to do, and there are lots of variables to consider before making a commitment.

Aside from the expected advice on how to go about choosing a scooter for yourself (cc’s, brands, etc), the book also includes interesting chapters on the history of a number of scooter companies like Vespa, Lambretta, and Gymkhana, as well as a chapter about insurance and licensing concerns and some information on sidecars. Scooters retails for $24.95.
