Kawasaki has been a constant participant in the MotoGP and despite the economic problems that have added to financial burdens today, they have pledged to keep one driver at least for the moment. Last month, reports said that Kawasaki was withdrawing from the world motorcycling championship as a consequence of the global economic crisis. However, it seems that all of these reports have been squashed.

The chosen rider for the new MotoGP team will be the Italian 26 year-old Marco Melandri. The team will be equipped with Kawasaki motorcycles and supporting materials.
