Scootering was never known to be a sport. Ideally, it was seen as a form of transportation or even recreation. But thanks to a “Scooter Mom”, Kimberly Funk, 46, of Canyon Lake, began Team Scooter Tees nine months ago.

It all started when she was asked by her children, Corey and Capron, both extreme scooter riders, if they could start competing in competitions.

A part of her mission is to promote scootering as an extreme sport and to have the sport legalized in local public parks. Team Scooter Tees recently competed in the third annual freestyle scooter competition in San Diego.
