Due in showrooms in the coming weeks, the Kawasaki ER-6F has a new frame and swingarm to improve handling and steering. Vibration levels were too severe on the original model, but this was addressed with various rubber mountings.

The previously plastic passenger grab handles were usurped by aluminium and the suspension became more sophisticated. This was in addition to bodywork revisions, which gave the bike a more conventional, attractive look than the vaguely curved original. The two versions are identical aside from the obvious bodywork differences and small suspension changes to suit the ER-6f’s additional frontal weight, which makes the vibration puzzling.

As for style, it has borrowed from Kawasaki’s Ninja sports bike range and looks well-balanced, modern and youthful without the overt aggression of many bikes. The traditional bright green is rather loud, but black and alternatives are calmer and more sophisticated.
