Newark International Airport Hosts Vespa Scooter Demo

Now this setup may seem kinda weird but rather than focus on showcasing what their airport has to offer, Newark International Airport has shifted a bit, holding a Vespa Scooter Demo to promote the virtues of “green” commuting.

Continental invited representatives of the Piaggio/Vespa scooter company to the airport to give demonstration rides on the Italian firm’s various models.

“It’s the best way to get around over there,” DiCicco said. “To get around the city, I don’t think there’s anything better — driving in traffic, they’re easy to park and they’re great on gas mileage.”

Indeed, with gas prices tickling the $4-a-gallon mark last year, more and more motorists began to look at motor scooters as a viable, even preferred motoring option.

Well, just commend them for their efforts even though it seems like they may be catering towards something out of their league.
