The number of accidents for motorcycle drivers has been increasing and while many try to resort to safety measures, there is one case where the drunken driver was sentenced for his careless driving that led to death of one cyclist in Milwaukee.

Kathleen Boland, a drunken driver who struck and killed a motorcyclist in Milwaukee last summer during the Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary Celebration, was sentenced on Monday, May 11 to spend the next decade of her life in prison. Boland plead guilty in January to homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle in the death of motorcycle rider Michael Fleming of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Boland’s blood alcohol level was estimated to be at .232 percent at the time of the accident. In addition to 10 years in prison, Boland must serve five years of extended supervision after her release.

“It is our hope that everyone enjoys a safe riding season in 2009 and that motorists share the road with motorcyclists,” said Attorney Michael F. Hupy. “Preventing tragedies like this requires everyone on the road to be aware and take responsibility for their actions.”
