2009 Vespa GTS 250
If you don’t plan to do a lot of freeway riding then the Vespa GTS 250 is a great all-around scooter. It is agile, well built and speedy- able to reach 70 mph and you can expect close to 60 mpg. Susan Carpenter, the Los Angeles Times’ motorcycle columnist writes about it, “I’ve never felt so much like Audrey Hepburn as I did riding the new GTS 250.”
Its elegant shape is formed from a single sheet of stainless steel and is the only brand that is built that way. This Vespa scooter has a 4-stroke, liquid cooled, 244 cc fuel-injected engine and automatic continuously variable transmission providing quick and easy acceleration. Retails for around $6,000

I’ve had my GTS for a tear now and travelled 2000 miles on up and over the Derbyshire Peak District here in England. In one day I travelleld 80+ miles that included 14,000, yes 14,000 feet of hill climbs. I am 6 foot 2 inches tall and the scooter has no problems with my weight, even on 1 in 5 gradients. (20%).
I average close to 80 miles per UK gallon for mixed urban and country riding.
I have only good things to say about the GTS 250ie.

I had my first Vespa in 1963.
