Safety Comes First for UK Bike Riders
Posted by Brian | Advice, Bikes, Scooter news | Posted on June 15th, 2009
In most parts of the world, the number of bike accidents is a glaring statistic. While many bikers are enticed to avoid speeding their lightweight bikes, it seems that this is not enough. For a rider’s point of view, it may be applicable but as far as external factors such as the roads and obstacles along the way, the scope of safety on the roads for bikers seem to be greater.
Most riders are becoming cautious since knowing that a bike possesses a lot of potential threats to their lives. But if given the chance, other factors should be noted as well such as:
- Bend tightening
- Slopes on road surfaces at roundabouts
- Manholes moved to better locations
- Sightlines and signage at junctions
Anthony Aronin, Head of Swinton Bikes, said: “Many people believe that speed is the main cause of motorbike accidents, but government statistics show that this is not the case. Most crashes are caused by poor road conditions and weather, fuel spillages, obstructions on the road and most often poor road design.
So if governments are reading this, please take note. Safety is not only on the part of bikers but you have to do your part as well in making the roads safer to ride in.
