The key to a healthy life is to live an emission free lifestyle. Among them include the promotion of pedal-power to the people and nothing beats that intent other than to start them young. Such was experienced by the kids over at Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in South Dakota when they received a generous donation of bikes from the Unity North Church in Coon Rapids, Minn.

The church’s youth group gathered donated bikes and purchased used bikes to give to the Christian Children’s Fund program in the Cherry Creek community on the reservation. About 40 bikes were given to CCF.

The bike donation is part of CCF’s staff work in that area to combat childhood obesity. Almost half the youth on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation have health concerns, such as diabetes, due to obesity.

The new bikes surely made the kids over at South Dakota pretty happy. While they were initially intended to give them some form of recreation, you have to admit that it is a healthy way of doing it rather than other devices that contribute to global warming and growing pains of carbon emissions at such a young age.
