One of the sickest things you would see is an elderly being robbed of the only joy he has left in his life. Such is the case when 101 year old Carl Kramer lost one of his most valued possessions, a scooter, when thieves ransacked his garage. He has lost more than a scooter. He lost his independence.

At his age, it is only logical to see that no one in his right mind would spend thousands of dollars for a mobility scooter. With so little time left why waste money? Thankfully, some KATU viewers, a family in North Bonneville, read his story, eventually donating a Rascal 600 Scooter which they bought for a loved one who was not able to make use of it due to illness.

Three other families volunteered to donate scooters to Carl along with others who volunteered to donate money. The senior center on the Longbeach peninsula even offered to give him a scooter.
