Scooter Helmet Laws Practically a No-Brainer Law

There are a lot of things that make a scooter differ from a motorcycle but if there is one thing that is not different, this is that of wearing helmet. Scooter riders have been accustomed to not wearing helmets but this was before they were used in the streets. Now, scooters are being used as an alternative to the growing concern of rising fuel prices and wearing helmets is something that has been overlooked.

The scooter helmet law is something that aims to safeguard people from untoward accidents for scooter riders. Apparently this is what the Ocean City Council wants to avoid since the number of scooter accident cases are really something to address. Under state law, motorcycle riders are required to wear helmets, but operators of motor scooters and their passengers are exempt.

This is really a no-brainer. The roads provide something to be wary of and with various vehicles there and the mass influx of scooter riders, the need to be well-protected has to be done.

Under the proposed ordinance, renters of motorized minibikes or mopeds would be required to provide helmets to customers. Operators of the vehicles and their passengers would be required to wear them.
