Taupo Police Try Out Segway Scooters

New Zealand law enforcement has unveiled its latest weapon with the Segway Scooters. Two Segway scooters were lent to the Taupo Police by the Taupo Moana Rotary Club to perk up the security efforts for the community. These new scooters were issued for a 12-month trial but CANNOT be used in footpaths and roads. These electric-powered scooters can reach a top speed of 20KMH and will be deployed to reinforce security measures in public parks and the lake front. The first deployment would be at the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge on November 28.

Your write up is wrong. Taupo Police can NOT use the scooters on the footpaths or roads. Legislation does not currently allow this.
